Brave activists from Greenpeace Australia climbed Queensland's Swanbank B coal-fired power station smokestack and unfurled an "Energy [R]evolution" banner. Temperatures have dropped to two degrees Celsius as they plan on spending the night on top in protest against the Australian government's push for coal. Australian activists climb coal fired power station
Australia, the world's biggest coal exporter, generates more than 80 percent of its electricity from the fuel, which emits more greenhouse gases when burnt than natural gas. Prices for power-station coal at Newcastle reached a record earlier this month amid constraints on supplies and rising demand from utilities in Asia.
